PROGRAM DESCRIPTIONS
Mission
Denton County Friends of the Family is dedicated to providing compassionate, comprehensive services to those impacted by rape, sexual abuse, and domestic violence, while partnering with our community to promote safety, hope, healing, justice, and prevention.
Crisis Line
Provides Crisis help & referral information to people calling our 24-hour crisis line.
Child & Adolescent
Therapeutic services for children and adolescents who've experience or witnessed sexual or domestic violence.
Transitional Housing
Provides resources for clients to move into a safe environment away from their abuser.
Survivor Advocacy Team
Supports survivors by providing crisis intervention, hospital accompaniment and other services. 100% Volunteer based
Legal Department
Provides legal services to victims of domestic and sexual violence.
Shelter
Provides a safe place to escape for victims (& their children) of sexual and domestic violence
Advocacy
Provides case management, court accompaniment, and helps with basic client needs.
BIPP
Works with offenders of domestic violence in a psycho-educational group setting
Marketing
Recruits Volunteers & Interns. Fund raises through special events & helps create awareness in the community through social media.
Adult Counseling
Group and individual counseling for victims of sexual and domestic violence.
Prevention Education
Promotes awareness among community groups, schools, and organizations.
Upscale Resale
Provides funding for victim services through the store, as well as through donations.

Childcare
Outreach and Shelter Childcare. Play and hang out with our kiddos, get to know our wonderful Childcare staff and make a positive impact in a child's life
Transitional Housing
Assist with filling, appointment reminders, donation organization, and food pantry organization
Survivor Advocacy Team
Supports survivors by providing hospital accompaniment and other services. Extra training required - three trainings per year
Prevention Education
Appointment Reminders, Community Ambassador, Educational Events, Data Research, Elementary Presentations
Advocacy
Assist with filling & data entry, appointment reminders, packing premade food kits, organizing hygiene closet & printing informational booklets
Shelter
Donation Organization, Staff assistance, light cleaning and on-call stay at our Savannah Shelter
Upscale Resale
Sort through donations, tag items for the floor, stock and assist guests. Manages our Movers Brigade
Marketing
Data Entry, Social Media, Thank You notes, Donations, Drives and Events
Legal Department
Filing/Admin, Data Entry, Friends of the Badge and Leadership Summit
BIPP
Assist with phone calls, safety planning and experience an in-depth education on Battering Intervention and Prevention
INTERN/PRACTICUM OPPORTUNITIES

Play Therapy/Children's Program
Work with children and adolescents, meet with parents, play and activity therapy, work directly with trauma survivors and assist with intakes.
Transitional Housing
Work directly with clients, gain experience in case management , address client housing needs, and connect clients to appropriate and available resources.
Advocacy (Outreach & Shelter)
Advocate on client's behalf, safety plan, complete intakes, work face to face with clients and gain experience in case management, legal referrals and protective orders.
Prevention Education
Assist with community presentations, research curriculum, assist in planning & organizing education events, promote community awareness and contribute to positive change among school age children.
Legal Department
Assist survivors of IPV, identify and develop police department partners, exposure to advanced systems and policy work and gain real life exposure to working in a family violence crisis center.
Counseling
Work directly with trauma survivors. gain hands on crisis response/intervention experience, and work with a multidisciplinary team of psychologists, LPC's, and social workers.
Marketing Development
Strengthen management skills, assist with social media content and blog posts, become efficient in Salesforce, Canva, Classy, FormAssembly and assist with events
Upscale Resale Merchandising
Assist with window, table and impact display designs, assist with social media marketing, inventory, office administrative duties, and help create sale ideas.
BIPP
Contact and advocate for victim/partners. determine appropriate services, increase knowledge of local referral sources, and gain knowledge of social issues contributing to IPV.
Non-Profit Operations
Help manage all internal operations, including accounting, bookkeeping, and HR, assist with managing internal files and tasks related to grant writing and filing.

Movers Brigade
Year-round opportunity to help move furniture items into the new homes of clients.
Back to School Drive
Our first drive of the year, beginning June - August collecting Backpacks and School supplies for our clients.
Just Between Friends
A twice-yearly event in April and October. Volunteers organize and pack items, many of which are donated to our organization.
Thanksgiving Drive
This takes place leading up to Thanksgiving, DCFOF collects and volunteers pack meal kits for clients.
Hope Gala
Our biggest fundraising event, volunteers can help with set up, run of show and tear down.
Adopt A Family Drive
Our final drive of the year takes place in December. Volunteers organize and pack gifts donated by the community for our clients.
Holiday Express
Our final fundraiser of the year takes place in December. Volunteers can help with set up, run of show and tear down.
SAAM
April is Sexual Assault Awareness Month, there are many volunteer opportunities through out the month to help bring awareness.
DVAM
October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month, there are many volunteer opportunities through out the month to help bring awareness.
