The Goolsby Chapel was dedicated on September 29, 2001, as a gift from State Representative and UNT alum Tony Goolsby ('61) and his wife, Toppy. The chapel offers a quiet and peaceful place for prayer, meditation, or reflection on campus. The chapel is nondenominational and not affiliated with any one religion; all are welcome. The Goolsby Chapel is open weekdays from 8:00 AM to 7:00 PM when classes are in session. The chapel is also available during evening and weekend hours by advance reservation for private events of a spiritual nature such as religious study groups, religious services, weddings, or memorials.
Goolsby Chapel has a distinctive, round sanctuary replete with beautiful stained glass windows and a skylight, a high ceiling, exceptional acoustics, soft natural lighting complimented by custom dimmable lighting, and comfortable seating for 64 in standard configuration. Additional seating is available for rental to bring total seating capacity to 76, and maximum occupancy is 142 guests, standing room only. The chapel also offers restrooms and a dressing room, two smaller sitting areas, a beautifully landscaped outdoor courtyard shaded by mature oak trees, and a flowing outdoor fountain. The stained glass windows, courtyard, and fountain all provide great backdrops for photographs.
