A new program is poised to reshape how UNT Greek organizations leverage one of their most vital resources — their alumni networks. GreekLink, a hybrid mentorship and professional networking initiative, launched this month with a mission to connect fraternity and sorority alumni with current undergraduate members based on shared industry and career interests, offering structured, multi-layered pathways to career advancement.
An investment in the future of UNT's Greek Life
At its heart, GreekLink is a call to action for alumni who credit their Greek experience with opening professional and personal doors. The program matches students with alumni mentors based on industry and career interest profiles, then guides those relationships through a clear progression: structured mentorship, job shadowing, and curated networking — all within the Mean Green community.
The program's engagement model is built with busy professionals in mind. Alumni participation is designed to be accessible and low-barrier, yet impactful. Mentors are asked to:
- Engage in the Mean Green Mentors platform
- Participate in virutal "GreekLink Career Chats" hosted monthly
- Attend one in-person event each semester
- Mentor a student 1:1 if schedule permits
A career ladder that goes beyond connection
What distinguishes GreekLink from conventional alumni directories or networking platforms is its emphasis on career ladder progression. Rather than a single introductory call, the program maps out a pathway from initial mentorship to informational shadowing to professional introduction.
The initiative reaffirms what many Greek alumni already know — fraternity and sorority life extends well beyond social programming to include opportunities for leadership and professional development. GreekLink is career guidance that changes trajectories.
