The UNT We Mean Green Fund and the UNT Police Department co-sponsored National Night Out on Oct. 2 in an effort to promote police-community partnerships and neighborhood
camaraderie to make our neighborhoods safer, more caring places to live.
During the event, UNT community members gathered and mingled at the UNT Community Garden, a shared space brought to campus by UNT students through the We Mean Green Fund. Guests were treated to snow cones, music, safety vehicle demonstrations and the opportunity to make new UNT friends.
“National Night Out was a lively event,” said Emily Bilcik, project coordinator for
the We Mean Green Fund. “Students, faculty and staff in attendance were genuinely
enthusiastic about the chance to meet others and experience the fun, relaxing atmosphere of the UNT Community Garden. The UNT Community Garden also
received membership applications from attendees, and other exhibitors had the opportunity
to share about their services on campus.”
