The Alpha Chi chapter of Omega Delta Phi at the University of North Texas has been ranked the No. 1 chapter in the country by the fraternity’s National Board, a recognition announced during the organization’s annual National Convention in July.
“It’s a great honor to know that our efforts are being recognized,” says Joel, Omega Delta Phi president.
The ranking is based on a national point system distributed to all chapters before the academic year begins. Chapters earn points through achievements in areas such as community service, fundraising and campus engagement.
UNT’s chapter stood out for its commitment to service and philanthropy. On average, each brother contributed more than 45 hours of community service, and the chapter organized multiple campus events and community initiatives.
“Our biggest contributions to the community came from setting up drives to deliver items to schools in need. From school supplies to personal hygiene items, we delivered to several schools in Denton County,” Joel says.
Omega Delta Phi also hosted regular workshops and events on campus that offered UNT students opportunities to learn and engage while supporting its philanthropic initiatives. Looking ahead, the chapter plans to continue its strong work ethic.
“Our main goal is to stay on top. We continue to work as hard as we did last year, if not harder, to ensure we meet the requirements to earn the privilege of remaining in that top spot,” Joel says.
UNT’s Fraternity and Sorority Life is part of the Center for Leadership Development within the Division of Student Affairs. FSL provides opportunities for personal growth, lifelong friendships, and meaningful engagement on campus and beyond. Through values-based programming and leadership initiatives, the Center empowers students to make a positive impact at UNT and in the local community.
