The UNT Division of Student Affairs welcomed Wendy Denman as the new executive director for the University Union. Denman is responsible for overseeing the administration of the University Union and the Coliseum and Gateway Center.

“This position is a great fit for me personally and professionally,” said Denman. “I was attracted to the diverse student population at UNT, and having the opportunity to grow in this role is exciting to me. Everyone has been welcoming, and I think this was a good move for me and my family.”

Denman has 15 years of experience in higher education, with expertise in residence life, student conduct, mediation services, student activities, student organization advising, fiscal management and facilities management. She most recently served as the director for the Rayburn Student Center (RSC) at Texas A&M University-Commerce, where she was responsible for the organization and administration of the 120,000 square-foot RSC. Previously, she held positions at Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi, the University of North Florida and Colorado State University.

Denman has been involved in the Association of College Unions (ACUI) since 2002. She has served in multiple positions on regional leadership teams and conference planning teams and is currently serving as the Region II director. She also has presented at regional and national conferences.

Denman is a graduate of Colorado State University with a bachelor’s degree in human development and family studies and a master’s degree in student affairs in higher education. She is currently ABD for a doctoral degree in higher education and learning technologies at Texas A&M University-Commerce.

As executive director, Denman’s goals are to keep moving forward with plans for the UNT One-Stop-Shop, which will make event planning on campus easier, and implement EMS Campus, an event management system that will allow UNT faculty and staff to reserve rooms across campus online. She also has plans to create a dedicated registration space across from the Emerald Ballroom.
