The University of North Texas was recently acknowledged by Military Times for their annual Best for Vets college rankings. This year, 325 universities made the list with UNT being ranked 29th in the nation. Military Times has included UNT in their top 28 on at least 4 other occasions.

Every year, Military Times sends out a survey to colleges nationwide to better understand what programs and services are offered to veterans. Military Times uses the response to their surveys, as well as public data obtained by the Department of Education and Department of Veteran Affairs, to create a comprehensive annual ranking of universities for their college veteran programs.

UNT earned this national ranking with DSA departments such as Student Veteran Services offering programs to veterans such as mentorship opportunities, military-related service projects, academic advising and tutoring, social events for veterans and military families and more. The Career Center also offers services to our student veterans such as resume building, employment career fairs for veterans, drop in visits all day once a month for veterans and job interview skills. Mental health services are also offered for student veterans from Counseling and Testing Services such as counselors on campus trained in military-related mental health issues, peer support-group meetings, opportunities to connect with therapy or service animals on campus and more.
