Tau Sigma is a recognized Student Organization at UNT and current members meet once a month for chapter meetings during the Fall and Spring semesters. Additional events and volunteer opportunities are planned by the elected student officers throughout these semesters.
Each semester the Transfer Center recognizes new full-time transfer students who received a 3.5 GPA or higher in their first full-time semester at UNT. Membership in Tau Sigma is by invitation only and students who meet the eligibility criteria will be invited to join the organization during their second semester at UNT; if a student's first full full-time semester was in the fall, they would receive an invitation the following spring semester.
Lifetime membership dues typically range from $50 to $65, depending upon the local dues amount. National dues are set at $35 with the remaining portion going to support your local chapter and the cost of the membership mailing.
Being a Tau Sigma member at UNT makes you eligible to be nominated for the Tau Sigma National Honor Society Scholarship. Advisors can nominate students each fall for the scholarship based on student’s essay applications. Questions for the scholarship application are related to your involvement on campus, in the chapter, and/or in your community. Current members will be emailed about the scholarship application during the Fall semester.
This semester UNT is proud to have their first scholarship winner, Camilla Jordskogen.
