2024-2025 Committee Opportunities

The Student Government Association strives to get undergraduate students involved on campus! Our external committees allow students to gain experience working with faculty and staff while helping make UNT a better place for students by providing student feedback.

Wondering where you'd best fit in? Here's an overview of each type of committee and how they're run.

Advocacy Committees

The UNT SGA Advocacy Committees are the best way to get involved in activism in the Student Government Association. The 10 committees work on projects that pertain to bettering the student experience, whether it be inclusion efforts, campus safety, legal and housing advocacy, or disability and mental health advocacy, among others. Our job is to ensure that the student body is not just heard and seen but supported through tangible action.

The 10 committees working diligently to provide for the student body are as follows:

  • Inclusion
  • Queer and Trans Advocacy
  • Legal and Housing
  • Disability Inclusion
  • Mental Health Coalition
  • International Student Advocacy
  • City and State Relations
  • Campus and Student Safety
  • Student Worker Advocacy
  • Fraternity and Sorority Life

Applications for the Spring 2025 Applications are currently closed. If you must, please email sgaadvocacy@unt.edu

University-Wide Committees

  • University-led, student-run
  • University-Wide committees are a combination of students and various UNT entities. These committees report to their respected office, department, or entity, but are primarily dictated and run by students.
  • No previous SGA experience is required, but is typically invite only.

Departmental Committees

  • University-led, student supported
  • Departmental committees are primarily governed directly by various UNT entities. These committees are often a coalition of faculty, staff, administrators, and students.
  • Students with previous SGA experience are prioritized as those selected for Departmental committees represent the Student Government Association on an institutional level.
