Board of Regents
- General description: The Board of Regents is the governing body of the University of North Texas System,
and one non-voting student regent is appointed by the Governor. The student regent
represents the interests of the students on all campuses and the University of North
Texas System.
- Term: June 1, 2026 to May 31, 2027
- Qualifications: Enrollment (undergraduate or graduate) at a UNT System institution, good academic
standing, 2.5 GPA
- How to apply: Submit the UNT System Student Regent Application for 2026-2027, Office of the Governor
Appointment Application, and Résumé. Instructions and links to the applications can

Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board (THECB)
- General description: The Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board is the State agency that oversees all
public post-secondary education. It promotes access, affordability, quality, success,
and cost efficiency in the state’s institutions of higher education. The Governor
appoints a non-voting student member to represent student interests on the Board.
- Term: June 1, 2026 to May 31, 2027
- Qualifications: Enrollment (undergrad or graduate) at a public institution of higher education, good
academic standing, 2.5 GPA, commit to attend quarterly board and committee meetings
- How to apply: Submit the THECB Application, Governor’s Appointment Application, Résumé, and Unofficial
