Class of 2026, Biology with a minor in Chemistry and Sociology
"Being so readily involved on campus has taught me to balance events and meetings for the multiple organizations I am involved in, as well as studying to prepare for exams and assignments, and still being able to enjoy my personal and social time with my friends. This skill has extended beyond the classroom when going through my day, learning to use my time wisely and minimizing overall stress."
What attracted you to UNT?

"I loved the overall ecofriendliness of this mean green campus and the dining halls! (Those BBQ Chicken sandwiches hooked me!) I also liked the size of the campus, not too large but large enough that I could explore new areas."

How have you gotten involved on campus?

"I took the initiative to join the University Program Council and the Student Government Association’s First-Year Council during my freshman year. As of this year, I am now a College of Science Senator. I had a blast volunteering during Make A Difference Day and am looking forward to participating in UNT’s Eaglethon fundraiser. I also joined the Pre-Dental Society and volunteered at COHAP to involve myself more with my future goals and have found a love for this field."

In what ways has being involved on campus helped you develop valuable skills that extend beyond the classroom?

"The development of my time management is not an understatement. Being so readily involved on campus has taught me to balance events and meetings for the multiple organizations I am involved in, as well as studying to prepare for exams and assignments, and still being able to enjoy my personal and social time with my friends. This skill has extended beyond the classroom when going through my day, learning to use my time wisely and minimizing overall stress."

What advice would you give a student who is looking to make the most out of their college experience?

"Getting involved is one way to make the most out of college but furthering that concept by maintaining connections is what I like to emphasize. You can explore campus life by visiting organizations to support other students and discovering opportunities on campus by talking and networking with others. Even for peers that you meet in your first year, or classmates, send a wave and check up on them."

What resources did you utilize to explore and find the right campus organizations for you?

"I utilized OrgSync during my first year to explore all of the organizations at UNT. I also spoke with my RA for fun things to fill my schedule. Social media also played a big role in my exploration. I got to explore what organizations had achieved in the past and took a step forward to join to accomplish great achievements as well."

How has campus involvement opened doors for leadership, networking and building connections?

"Joining SGA’s First-Year Council opened doors to my position as a senator which has helped me network and speak to inspirational figures such as Miss Texas UNT Alumni Ellie Breaux and my dean about issues that I wanted to resolve on campus. I have learned so much about the campus as a UPC member, SGA Senator, Resident Assistant, and Pre-Dental student, and in return has inspired me to show others the opportunities that UNT has to offer."

How has your UNT experience been so far?

"So FUN and interactive! I’ve gotten to discover my passion for dentistry while maintaining a social balance by speaking with my residents, classmates, professors, and coworkers. With the Grace of God (and time management!), I am satisfied with my academics and am learning to love even the toughest of assignments."

If you could recommend students attend one campus activity or event, what would it be and why?

"I would recommend that students attend Eaglethon! Such a great opportunity to learn about this interactive and engaging movement, while raising funds and awareness for kids of Cook Children's and Children's Miracle Network Hospitals. I had so much fun and plan on attending for my remaining years at UNT."

Fun fact about you?

"I want to create a comic in the future on the side of my career!"

What are your plans after graduating from UNT?

"I plan on attending dental school and gaining experience in a clinical setting as a Dental assistant. I also plan on taking time to pick up my bass again and developing the storyline for my comic."
