"I came to a school tour in my senior year in high school and I could clearly see how diverse campus is. That is one of the aspects I wanted in my college experience. They also have a great Hospitality Management program which is something that I'm passionate about. A plus was that they also helped me financially!"
How have you gotten involved in campus?
"I've been heavily involved in campus ever since my freshman year. The first way I got involved was by being a mentee for the Latinx Student Experience (LSE) where I was able to connect with other first year students that had similar background as me and now that I've gained experience and developed my leadership, I will be mentoring my own LSE mentees! I also connected with other organizations such as Folxlorico which became my second home, Latinx Hispanic Student Union (LHSU) and lastly initiating Spring 2022 for Kappa Delta Chi Sorority Inc. During the summer, I had the opportunity to grow my leadership skills by being part of the 2022 Orientation Team. I loved getting to know the team, welcoming freshman and transfer students to UNT and helping them as well. Definitely a unique experience!"
What advice would you give to a student who is looking to make the most of their time at UNT?
"My biggest advice is to get out of your comfort zone and find your community! I cannot stress enough the importance of building or finding your community because they will support you and help you out. Another advice would be to work on your time management skill!"
How has your UNT experience been so far?
"I have loved every single moment of it! I never thought I would be having such a great experience since my first year and I'm definitely looking forward for the rest of my college career. I thought it would be harder but if it wasn't for my community and my mom, I would've struggle more than what I had. UNT feels like a second home because I can be unapologetically myself while growing academically and professionally."
What's a fun fact about you?
"I was born in Dallas but raised in Nuevo Leon, Mexico!"
What are your plans after you finish at UNT?
"UNT I'm sure that I want to immerse myself in the Hospitality Industry. I do not have a specific area I want to focus on because there is so much to explore and learn from. I love traveling and networking so I'm really excited for my future and the opportunities that life has for me!"
