Off-Campus Student Services Book Stipend - Fall 2022

Off-Campus Student Services (OCSS) is proud to announce a book stipend to be awarded to our Non-Traditional undergraduate and Graduate students. Stipends will be awarded to non-traditional undergraduate, graduate students and single parents who demonstrate the most financial need and academic merit. Awards are valued at up to $300.00* each and will be paid directly to the UNT Barnes and Noble Bookstore on the selected students' behalf and must be used for books and approved educational supplies. Each term, an email notification is when the application filing period is near.

*Book stipend award amounts and/or the number of awards issued may change depending on available funding.

Eligibility requirements:
  • Be enrolled at UNT Denton (includes Frisco Campus)
  • Must be in good academic and disciplinary standing with the University
  • Must demonstrate financial need (according to FAFSA /Estimated Family Contribution)
  • Identify with one or more criteria of a non-traditional student. To see the non-traditional student criteria, use the following link: Non-Traditional Student Characteristics Page
  • Must have completed the 2022-2023 FAFSA
  • Maintained a 2.7 cumulative or higher UNT GPA if an undergraduate student
  • Maintained a 3.35 cumulative or higher UNT GPA if a graduate student
  • Successful completion of the essay prompt
  • Must utilize the Textbook Rental Program when possible
OCSS will review all applications and determine the awardees based on academic merit, financial need, determination of eligibility, and content & relevancy of the essay. The awardees will be notified by email prior to the semester for which the award is designated.

Association for Non-Traditional Students in Higher Education (ANTSHE) Scholarships 

Three scholarships are available for graduate and undergraduate students with an emphasis on higher education

Adult Students in Scholastic Transition (ASIST) Scholarship 

This scholarship is available to adults facing economic, social, or physical challenges and who are looking to improve their situation through educational opportunities. More information and application available at: http://www.ewiconnect.com  under ‘community.'

Alpha Sigma Lambda Scholarship 

This scholarship is awarded to any student at an institution that has an Alpha Sigma Lambda Chapter and who has completed 24 semester hours of graded coursework, achieved a grade point average of 3.2, is enrolled in a baccalaureate degree program and has a financial need for assistance to complete the degree. Jeannette  Rankin  Women's  Scholarship

Society of Women Engineers Re-Entry Scholarships 

Scholarships have been established to assist women in obtaining the credentials necessary to reenter the workforce as engineers. These scholarships are for re-entry or non-traditional students:

Soroptimist  International  of  the  Americas  Women's  Opportunity  Award 

This scholarship is available for women who provide the primary financial support for their families, and who are enrolled in or have been accepted to a vocational/skills training program or an undergraduate degree program.
