Through a partnership with the UNT Police Department, this bike theft prevention project provides students with free bike locks and bike ownership engravings. The We Mean Green Fund initiative launched at EarthFest in 2016 when UNT Police engraved over 100 bicycles for students who also received a free OnGuard Bulldog U-Lock. If a stolen bike is recovered and has an engraving on it, it can be returned to its rightful owner. Don't let your bike get T-Rexed!

By providing free bike locks and engravings, the Bike Lock project encourages a "green" lifestyle and supports a shift towards sustainable transportation. As more individuals feel secure biking on campus, we anticipate a decrease in vehicle usage, leading to improved local air quality with fewer vehicle emissions. The project's ultimate goal is to create a safer and friendlier campus atmosphere that fosters a sense of community and promotes sustainable transportation choices. 

We are excited to announce that the WMGF has increased the funding for the Bike Lock Project, providing an additional $13,838.92 to support this important initiative. This boost in funding will enable us to expand the reach of the project, offering more students the opportunity to protect their bikes and contribute to a greener, more sustainable campus community.

This project was proposed in 2016 with the support of the UNT Police Department. It has consistently secured funding since its proposal, with additional funding granted annually, ensuring its sustained operation and success.
