Department Mission

Our mission is to be an evolving office for students and their families that facilitates the successful transition into the UNT community by helping them connect to the university, creating opportunities, and building relationships.

Helping them connect to the university

Our programs focus on building connections to the university. From orientation to transition programs, we seek to be a liaison between UNT students and families and the UNT community. During our programs students and families have the opportunity to learn about the resources our university offers to support student success.

Creating opportunities

OTP employs employs nearly 100 student leaders in the office in a variety of leadership roles. Students have opportunities to develop as a leader and learn skills to help with future employment. Our department hires Orientation Leaders, Parent Ambassadors, Transfer Ambassadors, Peer Mentors, and student assistants to help with our front desk and graphic design. Building relationships

OTP is often the first point of connect between new students and families and the university. We strive to help all students and serve as a referral to student services on campus.
