About Freshman Parent & Family Orientation

Parents and family members are an important part of the UNT family and their support and interest are critical to a student's successful adjustment to university life. See below for information about Parent & Family Orientation and how you can participate.

Summer/Fall 2026

To register for an orientation session, click on the button below. Registration for Parent & Family Orientation is separate from the student orientation registration process. When a student signs up for orientation, they can provide parent contact information in the event of an emergency. This does not sign you up for Parent Orientation. If you would like to participate in Freshman Parent Orientation, click on the link below and complete the registration form and payment. Payment arrangements for the orientation fee must be made at the time of registering for the session to secure your spot.

NOTE: If you are a freshman parent/family member and your student is signed up to attend Late Orientation, please click on the Transfer Family & Guest page for registration information. Late Orientation is open to both new freshman and new transfer students.

Schedule at a Glance

Parent Orientation is a concurrent orientation program to the student schedule. Students and families will be together for some sessions (noted below), but separate for the majority of orientation.

If students and families are traveling to campus together, families should be aware that the student schedule is longer than the parent orientation schedule. Students are required to stay the night in the orientation residence hall (for sessions 1-11) to help them meet friends but also because the student event does not end until after 10 p.m. on the first day of orientation. Even if a student is commuting to campus for the fall semester, they should plan to stay the night in the orientation residence hall (for sessions 1-11). Families should plan accordingly.
