Founder's Day

Founder's Day Event Info

Date: Wednesday, September 16, 2020

Location: Virtual

Time: 8am-5pm

Founder's Day is the celebration of UNT's birthday! On September 16, 1890, President Joshua C. Chilton founded the Texas Normal College and Teacher Training Institute, which we now know as the University of North Texas. This year marks the University of North Texas' 130th birthday and we're so excited to celebrate virtually! We're honoring UNT with a day of gratitude to express our thanks for the Mean Green family. Contribute to our university-wide Kudoboard and give a shout-out to someone who has made an impact on you at UNT. Participate in trivia, hosted by the University Library, for a chance to win a koozie or Scrappy USB drive!

Share Some Gratitude

Celebrate UNT's birthday by expressing your gratitude for UNT and the Mean Green family. Is there someone at UNT who has made an impact on you - who helped you change your career path, taught you something invaluable, or changed your life? Give them a shout-out! Take this opportunity to share your favorite Mean Green memory and spread some positivity.

Participate in UNT Trivia

Test your knowledge of UNT history by participating in trivia! UNT Special Collections has curated 10 trivia questions and provided hints for where to find each answer. You can see the hints and more by following @UNTActivities on Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook. Students can submit their answers by 11:45pm on Wednesday, September 16, using the form below for a chance to win a koozie or Scrappy USB drive!
