We recognized sophomore Briceidy Vega for her great communication skills and participation within TRIO.
Ms. Jackie and Ms. Mae recently attended the DHS Winter Mariachi Concert to support four TRIO members: Briseida Chavarria, Carlos Ramirez, Keyla Iturbe, and Delancey Milam. Congratulations on a great performance, we are so proud of you all!
Students stopped by the TRIO room to share why they are choosing to be the first in their family to attend college. We had some very inspiring reasons!
Winter Festivities
Students decorated the TRIO room to add some holiday spirit! We have a fully decked out tree, garland in our windows, and a beautiful college-themed door display.
Build Texas Proud Expo
We visited Dallas College Coppell Center on October 3rd to see a construction expo! Students experienced hands-on opportunities such as caulking, cutting wood, and welding. Various employers and universities were present at the expo to meet with students and answer questions.
DHS TRIO Student of the Month – October
Carlos Ramirez (11) is our Student of the Month! Carlos has displayed strong leadership skills by recruiting his friends and peers into the program, assisting us in making TRIO posters to hang around school, and volunteering to help us at events. He has great TRIO spirit and we are excited to recognize him this month!
Trunk or Treat @ DHS
DHS Talent Search participated in the Bronco Madness Trunk or Treat to garner support for the basketball team! We had tons of eager volunteers who helped pack candy bags, interacted with kids, and decorated our trunk.
SAT Prep at DHS in October
TRIO sophomores are learning about financial literacy! This month, 10th grade students at DHS attended the "Game of Life" workshop to learn about gross/net income, taxes, insurance, budgeting, and more! Jayden T. and Abbi W. are the winners of two stuffed pigs graciously donated to us by the UNT Student Money Management Center. Stay tuned for more winners soon!
Class representatives at DHS volunteered their time to help recruit more students for TRIO! Pictured from left to right are Skyelar Hester (12th), Ava Dennis (11th), and Briseida Chavarria (12th). These ladies practiced their public speaking skills as they talked to students and their families about what TRIO is and how we work.
