Academic Advising
Students meet regularly with staff to track their grades, plan their course schedule, and stay on pace toward graduation and college readiness. Advisors help students set goals and work through any academic challenges as they come up.

During Saturday meetings, students take classes designed to strengthen core subject skills, math, science, English, and study strategies, that go beyond what's covered in their regular school day.

College Admission Assistance
Staff walk students through every step of the college application process, from choosing schools to writing essays to submitting applications, so no student navigates it alone.

Students take part in trips and activities that broaden their world beyond the classroom, including our annual college tour, which has included stops as far out as Missouri and Alabama while diving deep into biggest Texan colleges.

Staff help students and families understand the financial aid process, including FAFSA completion, understanding award letters, and identifying additional funding sources.

School Visits

Upward Bound staff visit students at their home high schools throughout the year to check in academically and personally, keeping the relationship strong beyond just Saturdays.

Online and In-Person Tutoring

Students have free access to Tutor.com, an online tutoring service covering a wide range of subjects, available whenever they need extra help outside of Saturday meetings. We also provide in-person tutoring during our Saturday meetings on all core subjects.
