GJHS Talent Search 7th and 8th Graders Learning to Focus
Last week, our 7th and 8th grade Talent Search students came together to tackle the power of our thoughts! We discussed how worrying can sometimes create a 'whirlwind' in our minds, making it tough to stay focused. By recognizing our ANTs (Automatic Negative Thoughts), we’re learning how to refocus for success! Looking forward to seeing everyone at our next Talent Search workshops on November 13th for 7th grade and November 14th for 8th grade. Keep up the great work!
Talent Search students began their first workshop by engaging in a team building activity and exploring the importance of the need for strong foundations, such as family, friends, teachers, and Talent Search, to help them achieve their goals. Then they set up their school planners marking important dates, including upcoming Talent Search workshops and a field trip. GJHS students interested in being part of Talent Search may pick up an application for the office and return it to your advisory teacher by September 13th.
The UNT Talent Search at Gainesville JHS kicked off the year with a meet-and-greet
pizza lunch! We welcomed 15 fantastic 8th graders and are set to add members as the
school year progresses. We had fun getting to know one another by sharing information
about our favorite foods, the different places we’re all from, and our goals/wishes
for the new school year. With such a great start, we’re excited for the amazing workshops
and field trips planned for the 2024-25 school year!
