GJHS 8th Grade TS Meets in September
2 girls with backs to each otherGJHS 8th Talent Search met on Thursday. Our challenge for the day was all about communication! Without looking, one person described a picture while their partner drew it based solely on the description. It reminded us how communication in real life can be complex, yet messages still manage to come through—though not always exactly as we think they do! Together, we can work to make the messages clearer.
Afterward, we introduced the BUILD model as a guide for active listening to help enhance our interactions. We then challenged ourselves to consider how we can apply one part of BUILD in our lives between now and when we meet again on October 17.

GJHS 1st Workshop

Talent Search students began their first workshop by engaging in a team building activity and exploring the importance of the need for strong foundations, such as family, friends, teachers, and Talent Search, to help them achieve their goals. Then they set up their school planners marking important dates, including upcoming Talent Search workshops and a field trip. GJHS students interested in being part of Talent Search may pick up an application for the office and return it to your advisory teacher by September 13th.

GJHS Meet and Greet

The UNT Talent Search at Gainesville JHS kicked off the year with a meet-and-greet pizza lunch! We welcomed 15 fantastic 8th graders and are set to add members as the school year progresses. We had fun getting to know one another by sharing information about our favorite foods, the different places we’re all from, and our goals/wishes for the new school year. With such a great start, we’re excited for the amazing workshops and field trips planned for the 2024-25 school year!
