The North Texas Forty Student Foundation
The North Texas Forty Student Foundation, known as NT40, celebrates the very best
of student leadership at UNT. Each year, NT40 recognizes exceptional students who
stand out for their energy, initiative, and deep commitment to making a difference
on campus and beyond. These students represent the spirit of leadership that continues
to shape the UNT community.
Proudly building on a strong tradition, NT40 collaborates across campus to create
lasting impact. The organization co-hosts the LEAD Conference with the Center for
Leadership Development, supports campus and athletic events, and partners with UNT
departments and student organizations to promote engagement and student success. NT40
alumni can take pride in knowing they helped set a standard of leadership that continues
to inspire the next generation of Mean Green leaders.
About
NT40 was founded in 1974 by President Nolen as a group of prominent students who held levels of organizational leadership and whose focus was based on philanthropic efforts, pride, and tradition. Members soon became highly recommended for their reputation of upholding spirit, traditions, commitment to UNT, involvement around campus, and of course academic achievement in the classroom.
Today the members of NT40 are known as the "Top 40 Leaders" on campus because of their high levels of involvement in student organizations and off-campus organizations. The NT40 hosts a variety of leadership development workshops and events multiple times a semester, which serves as an outreach effort with other upcoming campus leaders. NT40 co-hosts All for North Texas; North Texas for All (AFNT/NTFA) Leadership Conference with the Center for Leadership Development, shows support to departments like UNT Athletics by attending home games, and collaborates with other offices in Student Affairs to promote student engagement and success. Members also keeps up with their own curriculum of professional training exercises at each general body meeting.
Purpose
- To serve in promoting the pride, spirit, and positive image of the University of North Texas.
- To actively work on special events that directly affect administrators, students, and/or alumni of our university.
- To be articulate representatives of student leadership, not only on campus, but in the community as well.

Membership
The North Texas 40 Student Foundation seeks to encourage and recruit the top 40 student leaders on campus. Membership is based on the following criteria:
- An undergraduate student, enrolled at UNT for at least one semester prior to selection.
- Must have at least two long-semesters left at UNT.
- Have a minimum of 60 undergraduate hours
- Transfer students must have at least 24 hours completed at UNT.
- A minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 from UNT.
- Has been a member of at least two other registered student organizations and/or serve in a campus leadership position, e.g. Orientation Leader, Resident Assistant, Access Mentor, Transfer Ambassador, Homecoming Crew, etc.
- Must have current membership in at least one student organization and/or hold at least one campus leadership position.
- Have held or currently holds a leadership position in a registered student organization or a campus leadership position. Leadership position is defined as an executive board position or committee chair position with executive duties.
Recruitment of new members occurs once a semester and because of high volumes of applications, applicants are encouraged to apply as soon as they are eligible and to expect to apply more than once.
