UNT Leads!

The themed community UNT Leads! provides an opportunity for freshman students from all majors to participate in community engagement, service, and leadership. Students will learn about complex social issues and how our communities come together to address these issues.  Themes include youth and education, health, hunger, human rights, animal welfare, environmental/sustainability, and much more! UNT Leads! meets once a week as a floor to explore these topics in depth - alongside the UNT Leads! Resident Assistant, a UNT staff member will help lead a discussion on the issue and a community organization or non-profit will talk about how they work to solve the issue. After learning about each issue, UNT Leads! students will participate in a variety of service projects decided on by the floor in Denton and the UNT community.

Students in the UNT Leads! program will be introduced to a variety of programs, services, and people to help them to connect and grow during their time at the UNT.

Students in UNT Leads! will:

  • Build a strong community by participating in team-building activities and weekly community meetings
  • Create and participate in community service projects and events to promote and address social needs and issues
  • Have the support of experienced faculty or staff mentors
  • Connect with campus and community leaders
  • Meet fellow students with an interest in making a difference during their time at UNT and beyond
  • Have direct access to service programs and volunteer opportunities on campus
  • Live together and work together to make a difference in the community

Upon applying through eHousing for the UNT Leads! LLC, students will be contacted to complete a UNT Leads! agreement.

The UNT Leads! is housed in Rawlins Hall

What our Alumni are saying...

"The best part about UNT LEADS! is the way it transforms ‘living in a dorm' into ‘living in a community.' You meet your neighbors, become friends with them, and actually care about them. I think this feeling eventually expands to the Denton community, because of what you're exposed to in UNT LEADS!." - Chance Herrington, freshman

"This year has been amazing! I've made so many good friends. I've been introduced to so many resources that will benefit me for years to come. I wish all incoming freshmen could share this type of experience. It changes you." - Alana Murell, freshman
