Since 1952, the University of North Texas Fraternity and Sorority community has been a viable and integral part of campus life. With four councils consisting of 39 fraternities and sororities, our fraternity and sorority community offers a unique and lifelong involvement experience. Membership in a fraternity or sorority can be one of the most significant experiences for a college student. The value of fraternity and sorority life for students who choose to participate is the melding of almost every segment of the campus community into one cohesive program. Fraternities and sororities promote the experience of self-governance, leadership development, academic achievement, community service, social opportunities, and friendship.

Our Mission 

The mission of the Center for Fraternity and Sorority Life at the University of North Texas is to enhance student development through membership in CFSL organizations. Students are encouraged to emphasize academic excellence, philanthropic participation, personal development, and social development. We strive to create a unified campus through positive relations with the administration, faculty, and all CFSL and non-CFSL student organizations. Through these endeavors, the Center for Fraternity and Sorority Life strives to complement the mission of the University of North Texas.

Our Facts

• CFSL has been an integral part of UNT since 1952.
• In the 2019-2020 academic school year members of UNT CFSL organizations have
  • raised $39,947 for local and national charities
  • logged 6,924.58 hours of community service
  • donated 875+ toiletries, 175+ canned goods, 225+ books, 75 cards, and 175+ Christmas gift items
• Current CFSL students are involved in activities such as NT40, UNT Athletics, SGA, intramurals, Emerald Eagle Scholars, Young Life, RHA, club sports, UPC, Homecoming Crew, and professional and honorary organizations.
• Most CFSL Chapters and Councils have a local and/or national scholarship to help support their students.
• CFSL Men and Women are very active and engaged on campus and are often involved in the leadership of other student organizations.
• Greek students succeed in academics and breakdowns can be view on our Academics page. 
  • Since Spring 2017, the all-Greek GPA has been higher than the all-undergraduate GPA.
  • Since Fall 2012, the all-sorority GPA has been higher than the all-Women GPA.

The CFSL community at North Texas strives to promote Academics, Leadership, Personal Development, Service, and Brotherhood/Sisterhood.

These core values guide our everyday way of life. Fraternity and sorority life provides an opportunity to grow as an individual but within an environment of others who share the commitment to the founding principles of these organizations. We firmly believe that a fraternity and sorority experience, at its best, can have a significant positive impact on a student during his or her collegiate years and after college as well.
