An exhibition of watercolor works, featuring mineral specimens from around the world
On Mineral Art- Artists Statement
Many mineral collectors, when asked why hey collect specimens, will say they do so
because hey find minerals to be beautiful. The mineral world if full of saturated
colors from across the spectrum, lustrous and sharp crystals, and aesthetically pleasing
combinations.
IT is these qualities that draw in not only collectors, but artists and illustrators
as well. From the meticulous scientific illustrations of European geologists, to abstract
digital designs and watercolor portraits, minerals have long been a favored subject
of illustrators and painters. This selection of paintings displays my own interpretation
of minerals as my favorite subject to portray in my work.
