FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

How do I schedule a counseling appointment?

We have different levels of consultation. Please see our levels of consultation  to find out how to schedule based on what level you are seeking.

How do we contact you?

For counseling services: our office number is 940-565-2741 (press option 2) and our email is CounselingAndTestingServices@unt.edu.

For testing services: call 940-369-7617 or email at gatewaytesting@unt.edu.

Do you do medication management?

We do not do medication management. Please check out the SHWC on the second floor of Chestnut Hall.

Do you do mental health testing?
We do not do mental health testing. Please check out the Psychology Clinic in Terrill Hall 171 or book a Case Management appointment with us so we can help you find other resources.
What about counseling appointment paperwork? How long does it take?
We do require paperwork before all appointments. All our paperwork is done online. In order to access the paperwork, you will need to schedule an appointment with us first. If this is your first appointment with us this semester, paperwork will take 15-25 minutes to complete.
What testing do you offer?
Our office does not offer any testing. The Testing Center at the Gateway center offers academic testing.
Where is the counseling office located?
We are located in suite 313/311, on the 3rd floor of Chestnut Hall off of Chestnut Street. We also see clients via Zoom, at Maple Hall, and at Frisco.
What are your counseling office's hours?
We are open Monday through Friday from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. Hours do not differ over the Summer or Winter break. We are closed during holidays when the University is closed.
How much does counseling cost?
This is included in your tuition so there are no extra fees and no insurance needed. This means we normally can only see enrolled students.
Where can I park for my counseling appointment?
Lot 5 is next to Chestnut Hall. You may park where it says Patient Parking and we can validate the parking after your appointment. If you have further questions, please call 940-565-2741. PLEASE NOTE: There is road construction around campus during the summer and alternate routes may be needed. See the alternate road map here.
How do I get my counseling records sent to other offices?
To sent any confidential information as a current client, we will have you sign a Release of Information (ROI). Please reach out to us to start that process at 940-565-2741.
