Join us on the third floor of the University Union for just a mental break or stay for the entire day - find activities that fit into your schedule. Virtual programs are also available if you cannot make it to the Union. Students, faculty, and staff are all welcome! There is no registration for this event. Come as you are.

Synopsis: Dr King will be presenting on the healing power of relationships on mental health. She will discuss the effects of trauma and ways for students and faculty to find support and resources here at UNT. She will discuss how trauma can affect one's mental health and discuss how science and research offer hope. She plans to lay out how to assess for trauma and ways for students to learn to regulate their anxiety and become more aware and present of their own mental health.

Dr. King is a Clinical Associate Professor in the Counseling and Higher Education Department. She is also the clinic director for the Counseling and Human Development Center here at UNT. She is a Texas licensed professional counselor and supervisor. She has 20 years of experience as a counselor and has spoken nationally and internationally on mental health issues. She is currently President Elect for the Texas Association for Play Therapy.
