The Healthy Eagle Graduation Cord program gives students a chance to be recognized for making well-being a priority. By attending virtual or in-person campus wellness events and meeting a few simple criteria, students can earn a special cord to wear at graduation.
To qualify for a Healthy Eagle Graduation Cord, students must complete the following before the application deadline for the semester in which they are graduating with an undergraduate or graduate-level degree:
Explore virtual self-paced learning and upcoming in-person events on the SHWC OHP Events & Programs webpage. Eligible programs will include text that says, "Healthy Eagle Cord Eligible" and/or
the Healthy Eagle Graduation Cord icon!
While we recommend that students attend at least 1 eligible event per semester, students may complete the requirement at their own pace, as long as they meet the 8-event minimum.
We’re only able to verify program completion during the application process, but we encourage you to download a Healthy Eagle Graduation Cord Log (coming soon!) to help you stay organized and on track!
Cords are distributed only during the fall and spring semesters. Students planning to graduate during a summer session must submit their application by the prior spring deadline to be considered.
Application deadlines vary by semester and will be posted on this webpage and on social media. All 8 eligible events must be completed before submitting an application.
There are a limited number of cords available each term, so early application is encouraged. Cords are distributed on a first-come, first-served basis. Once capacity is reached, additional applications will be placed on a waitlist, but receiving a cord is not guaranteed.
Students are encouraged to participate in as many eligible virtual and in-person events as desired. However, each student can only receive 1 Healthy Eagle Graduation Cord.
Students who pursue additional degrees during their time at UNT are welcome to reuse their previously earned cord for future graduation ceremonies.
Once an application is approved, pick-up instructions will be sent to the student’s email. All cords must be picked up in person during the designated pick-up days and times.
After the final pick-up day, students on the waitlist will be notified only if additional cords become available, and instructions will be provided at that time.
Please note that cords cannot be mailed.
