The SHWC offers testing for sexually transmitted infections (STIs) without an appointment. Discounted testing is available several times throughout the year.

Walk-In STI Testing is Available If You
  • Are not currently having STI symptoms.
  • Have not been told a sexual partner tested positive for an STI.
  • Want all 4 tests in the testing package.
  • Do not want an appointment with a medical provider for more thorough discussion, exam, and/or treatment.

  • Have STI symptoms.
  • Were told a sexual partner tested positive.
  • Want specific tests.
  • Want help deciding which tests you should get.
  • Have another sexual health concern.

  • When available, results can be found in the Patient Portal.
  • Patients are only contacted if they have abnormal results.
Next Steps After a Positive Result
  • Patients are called at the phone number they listed on their testing paperwork to give more information about treatment or any follow-up testing.
  • If we can't reach a patient by phone, we send a certified letter to the mailing address on file with UNT. This may be a parent's address.
  • If a patient has a positive or inconclusive HIV or syphilis result, we must send blood for required state confirmatory testing. The only exception if for patients who already have a known case of syphilis. Patients are responsible for any extra charges from this testing.
