We are thrilled that you have either decided to attend the University of North Texas or are looking at attending UNT. The community as a whole has a lot of wonderful services to offer all UNT students, and many disability specific services. The Office of Disability Access (ODA) at the University of North Texas is committed to providing equal access to UNT students with disabilities.

Informational Meeting (Optional) - Prior to Admission
We welcome the opportunity to meet with any prospective student prior to acceptance at UNT to learn more about what specifically the Office of Disability Access offers and our process for requesting accommodations. We would also be happy to share other resources on campus during this meeting too. This is entirely optional. We will not be able to determine exactly what accommodations a student would be approved for during this meeting.

Registering for Accommodations
Students must register for accommodations prior to receiving any academic accommodations at UNT. Students MUST be accepted to UNT prior to completing the registration process listed below. We highly encourage students to complete our registration process as soon as they are accepted into the University of North Texas. This will allow us to work with students and their support system with typically plenty of time. Current UNT students should contact the ODA as soon as they have established a need for accommodations. We support students registering with our office at any time throughout their academic journey. However, accommodations are not applied retroactively, so it is important to begin the process as soon as possible.

On average, the process takes 2-4 weeks to complete after submission of the AIM application and documentation.  The timeline depends on a number of different factors, including the nature or complexity of the requested accommodations, the submission and evaluation of supporting documentation, and the availability of coordinators for scheduling appointments.

Registering for accommodations is a three-part process:

  1. Registration Form
  2. Disability Documentation
  3. Registration Meeting

You may complete Steps #1 and #2 above from anywhere you would like. If preferred, we do have a kiosk in both our main office (Chestnut Hall, Room 102) and our Testing Center (Chestnut Hall, Room 115) for students to complete the registration form on our computers. We also can scan in any disability documentation at that time, if that is easiest.
