How to Register with the ODA
Note: Students must be admitted to UNT before registering with our office.
At UNT, the Office of Disability Access (ODA) helps make sure students with disabilities have equal access to their education. To get accommodations, you must first complete the steps below.
We strive to make the time between finishing your Application in AIM and having your meeting as short as possible. The time may vary depending on what accommodations you ask for, the paperwork you provide, and how quickly we can schedule your meeting.
Start early!
- If you're a new or transfer student, begin as soon as you're admitted to UNT.
- If you're already a UNT student, contact us as soon as you know you need support.
Important: Accommodations don’t apply to past work or classes, so don’t wait to get started.
Steps to Register with ODA:
-
Fill out the Registration Form
- Log in to the AIM Student Portal using your UNT email.
- Complete the Registration Form on AIM.
-
Submit Your Documentation
- Provide documentation that explains your disability or medical condition and supports your request. Information on what we look for is available here: ODA Documentation Guidelines
- You can send it by:
- Uploading it in AIM.
- Emailing it to disability@unt.edu.
- Faxing it to 940-369-7969.
- Bringing it by the Office of Disability Access in Chestnut Hall, Suite 102.
-
Attend a Registration Meeting
- After we review your form and documents, we’ll contact you to schedule a meeting. Meetings can be held in-person, via Zoom, or on the phone.
- We’ll talk about your disability-related barriers, available services, and next steps. Here is more information about this meeting: Preparing for the Registration Meeting
- If we need more information, we’ll let you know what to provide.
- You must attend this meeting to finish the registration process. If you're more than 15 minutes late, you may need to reschedule.
Once you're registered, your Access Coordinator will email you instructions on how to request your Letters of Accommodation.
You only need to do a Registration Meeting once while you're at UNT.
After that, each semester you just request your Letters of Accommodation. If you ever have questions or concerns about your accommodations or anything related
to your disability, you can always schedule a meeting with us. If something isn’t
working with your accommodations, please let us know as soon as possible—we’re here
to help!
