COVID-19 Testing
UNT Students
Denton Campus
Students who need COVID testing should make an appointment to see an SHWC medical
provider. If the medical provider feels COVID testing is medically appropriate, they
will order testing through the in-house laboratory.
UNT Faculty and Staff
UNT faculty and staff must consult their primary care provider or a community testing site.
Guidelines for individuals who test positive for COVID-19
As of April 29, 2022, the University will no longer offer contact tracing for positive test cases. Individuals who test positive for the virus should follow current Centers for Disease Control Isolation and Precautions for People with COVID-19 and follow the treatment advice of their medical provider. Students, faculty, and staff should handle COVID-19-related absences like other health-related absences.
Guidelines for individuals who have been exposed to COVID-19
Individuals exposed to the virus should follow the current Centers for Disease Control recommendations and their medical provider's treatment advice. Students, faculty, and staff should handle COVID-19-related absences like other health-related absences.
COVID-19 Vaccinations
The SHWC worked diligently to be an approved administrator of COVID-19 vaccines. The State of Texas Department of Health and Human Services allocates vaccines to approved sites as needed. The SHWC received its first allotment of the vaccine on Tuesday, March 23, 2021, and started vaccinating eligible UNT students, faculty, and staff on Wednesday, March 24, 2021.
To help with national vaccination efforts, UNT joined the White House and U.S. Department of Education COVID-19 College Vaccine Challenge. In July 2021, UNT launched a vaccine incentive program for students, faculty, and staff. That program ended in early September 2021.
Starting May 16, 2022, the SHWC returned to pre-COVID-19 operations. This means the SHWC will only serve students and will no longer offer COVID testing, vaccines, or boosters for faculty and staff. Currently, the SHWC offers COVID-19 vaccines on a limited basis for UNT students. Vaccine availability will be determined by the vaccine allocated by the State of Texas. UNT students who received their first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine elsewhere can receive subsequent doses from the SHWC.
